I have a confession to make- Center Stage is one of my favorite movies of all time. It’s right up there with Repulsion, Rosemary’s Baby, and The Breakfast Club. You may be thinking, “WTF?! It’s a corny, predictable, trite version of Fame!” Well I say to that, “Hush yo mouf!” “Center Stage” introduced millenials to Zoe Saldana before “Avatar”, Amanda Schull before “Pretty Little Liars”, Peter Gallagher before “The O.C.”, and parts of the secret, cutthroat world of ballet before “Black Swan”.
With that passionate introduction, you can only imagine the elation I felt after reading about a new Starz ballet drama that is currently in the development stage, titled Flesh And Bone. Ethan Stiefel, who starred in Center Stage and Center Stage: Turn It Up as heartbreaker “Cooper”, is attached to the project as a choreographer and consultant, and American Ballet Theatre dancer Sascha Radetsky, who was the lovable “Charlie” in Center Stage, will star in a supporting role. This show needs a green light. I’m having all types of wonderful flashbacks right now you guys:
