#throwbackthursday- Dancing for Different Cultures With Dave Chappelle and John Mayer

This sketch needs no further introduction. It was hysterical back when it first aired and it’s still hysterical now!  The dude doing the robot needs to randomly show up in another Comedy Central show like “Broad City”.

Miss you Dave!

The “Divergent” Soundtrack Looks and Sounds Like Perfection

“Divergent” is almost here (!!!!) and this past Monday its original motion picture soundtrack list was revealed. I’ve listened to the Ellie Goulding M83, and Snow Patrol songs, which are perfect for this movie, and I have to add that “Dream Machines” by Big Deal (a past “Song of the Day” on this blog) encapsulates the themes of youthful angst, confusion, restlessness, and finding one’s self within “Divergent” to a T. Could this soundtrack be any more flawless?!

Song of the Day- “Ragged Old Angels” by K.I.D.S.

K.I.D.S. is the brainchild of White Lies bassist Charles Cave and Swedish singer-songwriter, recording artist, actress, and model Rosanna Munter, whom I fondly remember as Rosie from the Swedish pop girl group of the early aughts, Play.

This song, coming from a duo that I would have never suspected would come together, is a very nice collaboration. I’m looking forward to hearing more!

The Descendants of Solomon Northup

One of the reasons I love The Hollywood Reporter are reports such as this. Under Janice Min’s editorial direction, the publication has been one of my favorites for the past five years to read at home or on the go.

My respect is raised even higher for THR after seeing these portraits of Solomon Northup’s descendants. Staff members manages to track down five generations of his family members for portraits. I feel honored just looking at these photographs. May his legacy live on!

The UK’s “Gogglebox” Is Coming To America

Gogglebox” is the only reality show of the moment that I would sign up to be a part of. It’s that serious. Imagine scores of people watching your reaction to the latest plot line of “Scandal”, “Pretty Little Liars”, or Super Bowl commercials…or watching the same of others living in Kentucky, New York City, or Texas. Thankfully, I may have a chance to audition for the American version, which is definitely happening.

Even though news of the reality adaptation was made known in September of last year and it was not until today that I found out that a test run of three episodes of the “Gogglebox” US version, “The People’s Couch”, aired on Bravo this past October. The results are no less than entertaining:

“American Horror Story: Coven”

Quotables include:

“Death by vay..”

“She said vagina.”

“Why do hetero boys always scream like that? Just… project from the… gut!”

“Oh I need to see some frat boys getting killed immediately.” (a few moments pass as some frat boys get killed immediately) “Thank you.”

“That s&!t happening for real?”

P.S. Yes, that’s Blake McIver Ewing on one of those couches. Remember him from “Full House” as Derek?

The People’s Couch” was picked up to a full series  and will premiere on March 10th at 11:30 pm (EST). Bravo is going to have another reality hit on its hands!
