The Purge left me wanting more. It has a wonderful concept that underlines the basis of many legendary horror films – the real possibility of our fears coming to life. But some parts fell flat overall for me. When I started to correctly predict certain outcomes, the ending of the movie left me a bit deflated. The tension between the outdoor and indoor worlds was felt and I liked that.
Now we have the sequel to The Purge, The Purge: Anarchy, to look forward to. The potential for this movie to explore the themes of The Purge is even greater, as the protagonists are left to fight for their lives in wide open spaces. What if you were trapped outside? Where do you go among people in locked down homes? Will we see any cameos from the family of the first Purge movie?
p.s. I see you Zach Gilford aka Matt Saracen!
