BBC documentary “Secrets of South America” has been a fascinating look into being young in South America through the life of beauty queens in Venezuela, sex in Argentina, and tonight, 15th birthday debutante balls in Brazil. A little less than an hour long, the first two documentary programs have exposed just enough to leave viewers wanting more. I had no idea how serious beauty pageants were in Venezuela. We’re talking families living in slums and working to the bone just to raise money for plastic surgery procedures:
