My oh my this awards season has been one of the most exciting ones I’ve EVER witnessed. Even though I still haven’t watched all of the nominated Oscar Best Pictures, it’s clear that I’m missing out on those such as Dallas Buyers Club and Blue Jasmine, and that I should stay away from American Hustle. I’m at a loss for words in terms of the Best Supporting Actress race. I adore both Lupita Nyong’o and Jennifer Lawrence. I haven’t seen American Hustle, but I’ve seen 12 Years a Slave. Lupita’s performance in 12 Years is both vulnerable and regal. But JLaw is unstoppable. However, what if Sally Hawkins ends up as the sleeper winner in this category?
Then we have a Best Director showdown that, for some, is most apparent between Alfonso Cuaron and Steve McQueen. (p.s.- I still believe that McQueen should have won a Best Director/Best Picture Oscar for Shame, or that Michael Fassbender should have gotten a Best Actor Academy Award for his performance.) Who will win? I can’t predict this one. I’d love for it to go to McQueen, but I would not be surprised if Cuaron walks away with an Oscar statue in his hands tomorrow.
All I truly, undeniably know is that Jared Leto, Cate Blanchett, and Matthew McConaughey are locks for accepting an award tomorrow evening. They have been scooping up accolades left and right for the past few months. How far all three have come, especially Leto and McConaughey. My respect and admiration goes out to all.
Oh and let us not forget that Ellen is going to be splendid tomorrow. No doubt about it!
Here’s to tomorrow’s epic day- I will be watching the red carpet/mani-cam appearances and live tweeting the Oscars! You can catch me on Twitter (@CandaceCordelia) for my thoughts. Reply and retweet away! The lot of us will be snowed in anyway, so let’s bust out our party favors and make the most of it!El
