Remembering Biggie Smalls

Yesterday, on March 9th, 17 years ago Biggie Smalls was murdered. Since then, and thereafter 2Pac’s death as well, rap music has never felt the same for me. There are very, very few rappers who moved me like Biggie did. I will never forget the first time I heard “Life After Death” and “Ready to Die” in their entirety. I remember sitting in various rooms of my house and playing them on repeat for days on end. Rap and Biggie told tales of lives that I would never know, but could empathize with. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for a lot of rap music today.

R.I.P BIG. You will never be forgotten. Your talent is still making sure of that.
