The last full-length Purity Ring album came out three years ago but still sounds fresh. However, let’s make way for “another eternity“, because three years is a long wait to hear new music from such an innovative, progressive duo.
When I heard the first 15 seconds of this track, I immediately thought of Foals, with a little hint of Bloc Party, once the bass kicked in. Then the tone of the song switched to a point where I completely started to liken this band’s sound to Mew when the vocals dropped. Still, after listening to more songs from Pinkshinyultrablast, I am 100% convinced that they are one of the most exciting, phenomenal shoegaze bands I’ve ever heard.
I look at Jack O’Connell in this photo and my heart swells. I’ve watched him go from Cook in “Skins” to now starring in an Angelina Jolie directed film, which looks and sounds spectacular, judging from its several trailers. If he scores an Oscar nom for his performance in this movie, I will be immensely proud. I don’t have to personally know him to feel this way. He reps for the underdogs and I’m down for his journey and continuous success 100%.
In fact, let me raise a toast to EVERYONE in this picture, because I remember Garrett Hedlund in “Death Sentence” with a shaved head giving a scary performance that was so realistic and powerful still to this day to think about. I’m quietly tracking how hard Jai Courtney is working, booking roles alongside Bruce Willis and Rosamund Pike. I see all of you choosing interesting roles, not all commercial, making smart choices and working. As a human being and actor, I say keep going forward and killin’ it, but try not to leave too many casualties in your wake.
This song makes me happy. Seeing Paul Reubens and Karen Gillan in this video makes me happy.
Charli XCX sure has impeccable timing when it comes to releasing new music. “Break the Rules” is another shining example of Charli’s great songwriting skills and IDGAF attitude. I won’t knock her hustle and craft.
I have yet to get past the first chapter, but I admit that this trailer looks brutally hot. As much as I would have loved to see Matt Bomer play Christian Grey, Jamie Dornan is looking mighty proper and correct for the role. I will be checking this movie out in theaters next February!
